According to the "China Comprehensive Computing Power Index (2024)", North China's Shanxi province ranks eighth in the country in terms of overall computing power, with Datong ranking third in urban computing power. The province's computing power development is at the national forefront.
This year, Shanxi has continuously improved its digital economy policies, implementing a series of measures to accelerate the growth of the digital economy and strengthen top-level design for data work.
By August, the province had completed 134 intelligent coal mines and 1,564 intelligent mining faces, with 3,200 unmanned fixed underground positions, significantly enhancing coal mine safety.
In the medical field, the medical digital imaging cloud platform project has launched, aiming to connect imaging data from 383 second-tier or higher public medical institutions in the province, promoting medical data sharing.
In the cultural tourism sector, a demonstration project for immersive smart tourism experiences has been initiated, focusing on six pilot scenic sites, to explore the province's rich cultural and tourism offerings.
Furthermore, Shanxi's digital economy ecosystem continues to thrive. The province participated in the 7th Digital China Summit, showcasing its digital economy achievements and providing a platform for local companies to collaborate. The 2024 "Data Element X" competition in Shanxi attracted 472 teams, showcasing outstanding projects and tech talents.
According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, Shanxi's digital economy reached 641.8 billion yuan ($90.20 billion) in 2023, with a 12.8-percent year-on-year growth rate, ranking among the top in the nation.
