Suzhou is making significant strides in the intelligent Internet of Vehicles (IoV) industry, having developed a comprehensive industrial chain that includes complete vehicles, components, automotive electronics, new energy, and intelligent networking systems.
The city's IoV industrial layout is centered in Xiangcheng district, with key areas in Changshu, a county-level city of Suzhou, Suzhou Industrial Park, Wujiang and Wuzhong district, and Suzhou New District, while other districts serve as collaborative zones.
Suzhou's intelligent IoV industry is characterized by six major features:
1. Comprehensive Industrial Chain: Suzhou's intelligent IoV industry spans over 30 sub-sectors, with numerous specialized, refined, differential, and innovative enterprises and unicorns. The city is home to more than 600 IoV-related companies, with industry's output surpassing 60 billion yuan ($8.41 billion).
2. Robust Policies: Suzhou is the first city in Jiangsu province to implement detailed regulations for road testing and demonstration applications. The city has also introduced a three-year action plan and several supportive measures for industry development.
3. Strong Innovation Capacity: Collaborations with top universities like Tsinghua University, Tongji University, and Southeast University have resulted in over 100 innovative products and the establishment of six international standards, six local standards, and 24 group standards.
4. Comprehensive Infrastructure: Suzhou has developed 595.8 kilometers of roads for intelligent connected vehicles and installed 55,000 5G base stations, with 2,459.4 kilometers of open test roads.
5. Diverse Application Scenarios: The city has created over 100 application scenarios, deploying more than 1,000 vehicles for road testing and demonstration, with a cumulative test mileage of more than 15 million kilometers.
6. Extensive Regional Cooperation: Suzhou actively promotes cooperation and exchanges with cities in the Yangtze River Delta and surrounding areas, facilitating the interconnection and mutual recognition of vehicle networking infrastructure, data, and standards.
