Coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the founding of Beijing Dance Academy, the Beijing Dance Academy Dance Museum officially opened on Sunday.

This is Beijing's first museum dedicated to the history of Chinese dance, and it also serves as an important platform for showcasing dance art and a base for academic research. The establishment of the museum will play a significant role in the preservation and development of dance culture.

The museum is located on the second floor of the Beijing Dance Academy Dance Theater. The current exhibitions systematically review the history of dance from primitive society to the contemporary era. Each section presents the historical culture and dance characteristics of its time, using vivid displays of ancient musical and dance figurines, instruments, literature, and dance videos to allow visitors to experience the charm of Chinese dance art firsthand.

Notably, some ancient musical and dance figurines donated by Wang Qian, an associate researcher from the Xi'an Beilin Museum in Shaanxi province, are also on display. Additionally, eight members of the World Dance Education Alliance, initiated by Beijing Dance Academy, have made donations to the museum. Institutions such as the Mongolian State University of Arts and Culture, the National Academy of Dance in Kazakhstan, and Japan's Matsuyama Ballet Company contributed musical instruments, paintings, and books that represent the artistic features of their respective nations.

Xu Rui, deputy secretary of the Party committee and president of Beijing Dance Academy, explained that the museum will provide vital resources for the teaching and research of Chinese dance history. It will also offer a venue for dance enthusiasts and researchers to appreciate the beauty of Chinese dance art, as well as a platform for the broader public to learn about traditional Chinese culture through dance.
