On Mount Tai in Shandong province, a garbage-collecting robot dog has recently been broadcasting voice messages to remind tourists to protect the environment.

"By leveraging the latest technological advancements and learning from the experiences of other scenic spots, we believe the most effective solutions are drone transport and robot dog transport," explained a staff member from the Taishan Cultural Tourism Group's property company.

Since July, the company has engaged with a number of manufacturers and research institutions, ultimately selecting Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics to conduct joint garbage transport tests in the Mount Tai scenic area.

Jin Da, marketing manager at Unitree Robotics, said that the robot dog, the Unitree B2 industrial quadruped robot, has excellent terrain adaptability, maintaining stability even on slippery or extreme terrains, and exhibits exceptional stability and balance while climbing ascending the mountain.

It also boasts superior obstacle-crossing capabilities, easily overcoming obstacles like log piles and platforms as high as 40 centimeters. Additionally, the robot dog has a battery life of four to six hours when fully charged and a static maximum load capacity of 120 kilograms, he said.

After three days of testing, the robot dog was able to adapt to over 80 percent of the road conditions in the scenic area.

"The successful ascent of the B2 demonstrates its reliability and practicality under extreme conditions, providing valuable experience and data support for future applications in rescue, exploration, logistics, and other fields. We are still in the testing phase, and we will further refine the design to implement the next round of testing as soon as possible," Jin said.
