In recent years, Zhoushan Port has been pioneering the development of green ports, exploring new power systems for port applications. In addition to solar power, the city is promoting the use of shore power facilities.

By mid-September, Zhoushan Port's shore power usage reached 3.98 million kilowatt-hours, a 420.18-percent increase year-on-year, the highest growth rate in Zhejiang province.

Shore power facilities cover 45 berths at cargo terminals across the city, with an overall coverage rate of 84.6 percent. Among these, container and cruise ship berths have achieved 100 percent coverage.

Statistics show that in the first three quarters, the wharf of the Laotangshan Port Area Phase V connected 1,240 vessels to shore power. The wharf has established a fast channel for international ships requiring shore power, offering priority docking and fee reductions for first-time users of high-voltage shore power.

The China National Offshore Oil Corporation (Zhoushan) Energy Logistics Base, which supplies materials to offshore drilling platforms, relies heavily on electricity. Its distributed solar project generates about 5,000 kWh daily during peak sunlight, covering the base's daytime electricity needs.

The solar project has been running steadily for 10 months, generating 1.16 million kWh and reducing carbon emissions by 556 metric tons.

Wang Jiaming, deputy general manager of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (Zhoushan) Energy Logistics Co, said that diesel-powered equipment will be replaced with new energy alternatives, and port lighting will transition to integrated wind and solar systems.
