At the closing ceremony of the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress 2024 held in Istanbul, Turkiye, on Oct 17, the IRF Awards 2024 were announced, with Guizhou Expressway Group's "the Digital-technology-based Daloushan Mountains Extra-long Tunnels Emergency Management Technology Package" winning the emergency and disaster response and management award.
The Daloushan tunnel is a crucial control project in the Chongqing-Zunyi section of the Lanzhou-Haikou national expressway, with a tunnel length of 10.5 kilometers and a designed speed of 100 km per hour.
It is currently the second longest dual six-lane highway tunnel in China. It includes the Yaolongshan tunnel and eight other long tunnels forming a tunnel group, with a total route length of approximately 34.5 km. It is located in a karst area.
To address the challenges of a complex and changing geological environment, multiple operational safety risks, and management difficulties in the Daloushan tunnel, Guizhou Expressway Group utilized technologies such as the internet of things, edge computing, artificial intelligence, and big data.
The group developed the Daloushan tunnel group smart control integrated platform, which enables real-time perception of the tunnel situation, rapid and personalized deployment of the tunnel group network, and multi-level centralized control, enhancing the safety, convenience, and intelligence of tunnel operation management.
The IRF World Congress is held every four years and is one of the largest conferences in the infrastructure sector, with a history of nearly 70 years.
This year, the IRF Awards 2024 were established for the first time, aiming to recognize and celebrate outstanding projects in the global road transport sector, promoting innovation, sustainable development, and safety in the field.
