The World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC), known as the "Olympic Committee" of the music world, will host its 69th annual meeting from June 25 to 29, 2025, in Harbin, capital of Northeast China's Heilongjiang province.
This marks the first time a Chinese city will host the federation's annual meeting.
Established in 1957 in Geneva, Switzerland, the WFIMC operates under the auspices of UNESCO and serves as the highest authority on global music competitions.
In 2017, the Harbin Schoenfeld International String Competition, China's first large-scale comprehensive international string competition, joined the WFIMC, becoming the only large string competition among the alliance's members.
In 2021, the Harbin Schoenfeld International String Competition was elected to the WFIMC's board of directors, making it the first Chinese member institution to join the board in the alliance's history.
