Thanks to deepening reform in streamlining administrative services, the China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone Copyright Service Center in the city's Pudong New Area is providing optimal services for enterprises in the zone, setting a new benchmark for copyright services in the country.

The National Copyright Administration unveiled the center in 2019, making it the first national-level professional copyright service platform established within a free trade zone in China.

In recent years, through innovations in fast-registration services for works and a registration system based on the location where copyright activities occur, a large number of enterprises have been able to enjoy greater convenience. Companies spanning various fields such as culture, fine arts, internet information, and the metaverse have gathered and registered in Pudong, driving the prosperous development of the cultural industry in the district.

The center provides a "fast registration" channel for eligible enterprises in Pudong, shortening the registration, application, and certification process from 30 working days to 5.

Over the past four years, the center has actively expanded its policy coverage, increased publicity and guidance for enterprises, and completed rapid registration for nearly 85,000 works, providing institutional guarantees for the development of copyright industries in the free trade zone.

Furthermore, Pudong has embarked on explorations in institutional reform in the copyright field. Works involved in transactions, development, and other activities in the district can be included in Pudong's intellectual property protection system upon receiving initial registration certification, forming an integrated one-stop service for rights confirmation, utilization, and protection.
