The 8th China Intangible Cultural Heritage Expo will take place in Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, from Oct 17 to 21.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of China's ratification of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. The expo will comprehensively showcase achievements in intangible cultural heritage (ICH) protection over the past two decades.
First, the event will highlight the beauty of ICH as it connects with modern life, painting a vibrant picture of the systematic protection and fruitful results achieved in ICH across China. Targeting exhibitors and professional buyers, the expo will invite ICH experts to engage in discussions and share insights on innovative developments, modern communication strategies, and new ways that ICH is being integrated with everyday life.
Second, the expo will emphasize the role of youth in preserving ICH. An exhibition area dedicated to higher education institutions involved in ICH training will be established, showcasing the new energy that young people contribute to ICH.
Lastly, the expo will demonstrate the synergy between ICH and new technologies. New media platforms dedicated to promoting ICH, along with innovative technological applications, will be invited to showcase advancements in media dissemination and digital presentation, creating immersive experiences that highlight the relevance of ICH in today's world.
By showcasing the richness of ICH and its integration into modern society, the event will contribute to the ongoing efforts to preserve and promote cultural diversity, ensuring that future generations can enjoy and benefit from this invaluable heritage.
