Intangible cultural heritage (ICH) has become a vibrant hallmark of Jinan. The city is pursuing a goal of being rich in ICH items, while promoting the deep integration of ICH with tourism.
Jinan currently boasts 13 national-level, 108 provincial-level, and 565 municipal-level ICH representative projects, along with eight national-level, 68 provincial-level, and 278 municipal-level inheritors.
To promote its rich ICH resources, Jinan has developed three tourism routes focused on cuisine, folk customs, and folk art. The city has also unveiled seven ICH check-in spots, including Baihuazhou Cultural and Historical Block, Mingshui Ancient City, Jinan Cultural Center, Daguanyuan commercial block, Yushan Academy, and the Shandong Taishunzhai Nanchang Museum.
Additionally, Jinan has hosted opera art performances, ICH design competition and other activities to boost the visibility and impact of ICH, as well as enhance the cultural richness of Jinan's tourism.
As visiting exhibitions become a popular social trend, more people are traveling to cities just for a single event. Jinan plans to try new exhibition formats, enrich activities, and enhance cultural services, in bid to turn the ICH expo into a must-see for both locals and tourists and position it as a sought-after travel hotspot.
