Jiang Chenxi, a young climber from Ningbo, Zhejiang province, emerged victorious at the 8th National Kids Climbing Championship, clinching the titles in both the U13 Girls' Difficulty and All-Around categories, while also securing second place in the U13 Girls' Bouldering event.
The three-day event attracted 695 athletes from 125 teams across the nation and featured four disciplines: Difficulty, Speed, Bouldering, and All-Around.
During the preliminary Bouldering round, Jiang adopted a cautious approach and qualified for the finals after taking first place. Although she struggled with one of the balance routes in the finals, she adapted swiftly and successfully completed the subsequent routes.
In the Difficulty discipline, she excelled in both preliminaries and semifinals, topping the charts before winning the final.
Jiang, who boasts extensive competition experience, had already secured multiple titles in previous events. To prepare for this championship, she began training intensively last summer, focusing on physical fitness and climbing skills.
"At this competition, she faced immense pressure, but she held on. She adjusted her mindset exceptionally well and enjoyed the entire competition," said Xu Jiaqi, Jiang’s coach.
