North China's Shanxi province is working to accelerate the establishment of a comprehensive new opening-up pattern with diversified development and supporting engines.
The province has supported leading foreign trade enterprises in steadily expanding intermediate goods trade, continuously increasing exports of advantageous products like daily ceramics and agricultural specialty products, and fostering new foreign trade growth engines in rail transportation, new energy vehicles, and photovoltaics. Thus, the province's outward-oriented economy has continuously improved.
Shanxi has also supported enterprises in exploring and co-building markets along the Belt and Road, establishing public overseas warehouses, and developing green and digital trade. The province's outbound direct investments involve 50 countries and regions, including Zimbabwe and Malaysia.
Shanxi operates 18 regular routes of China-Europe freight trains, connecting 48 major cities in 16 countries. As of Sept 18, the province had operated 825 China-Europe and China-Asia freight train trips. Regarding ports and opening-up platforms, Shanxi has three aviation ports in Taiyuan, Datong, and Yuncheng, along with one comprehensive bonded zone and three bonded logistics centers.
By the end of 2023, Shanxi had established sister city relationships with 63 local governments in 30 countries and friendly cooperative partnerships with 131 local governments in 53 countries. Through cooperation dialogues, the province continues to deepen cooperation with sister cities in energy, technology, medicine, culture, tourism, and other fields.
