North China's Shanxi province has been making solid progress in conserving ancient trees by continuously diversifying approaches for their protection while intensifying scientific research efforts.
According to the results of the second national survey on ancient trees, the province boasts over 100,000 ancient trees, ranking 12th nationwide. There are more than 80,000 trees in ancient clusters, 24,000 individual ancient trees, and over 1,200 ancient trees aged over 1,000 years.
Shanxi will continue to identify and publish ancient trees, utilizing modern information technologies to further standardize their documentation.
Utilizing the "internet+" model, initiatives such as "cloud adoption" and "cloud donations" will encourage citizens to fulfill their responsibilities for ancient trees through online nurturing, management, and financial support.
Shanxi will also employ financial tools to ensure management and maintenance funding for ancient trees and ensure their rescue and restoration.
More efforts will be made to solidify the implementation of relevant laws and regulations for ancient tree conservation. To enhance protection effectiveness, the integration of the forest leader system with ecological judicial protection will be promoted.
