Guiyang climber wins speed title at national climbing event

Guiyang-trained athlete Meng Shixue recently won the women's speed event at the 31st National Climbing Championship and 15th National Games Climbing Qualifier, clocking in at 6.89 seconds. With this achievement, she has secured a spot in the 2025 National Games climbing competition.

The four-day championship at the Hubei Olympic Sports Center Climbing Hall concluded on Sept 24.

According to the Guizhou Sports Bureau, the Guizhou team won one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal at the event.

Meng Shixue, Zhang Shaoqin, Long Jianguo, and Wang Ruifeng secured qualifying spots for the speed climbing event at next year’s National Games. Luo Jintao qualified for the men's all-around event (bouldering + lead climbing).

The competition attracted many top-level climbers from across the country and featured four main events: men's and women's speed, lead, bouldering, and all-around.
