Sam's Club, the high-end membership store of world retail giant Walmart Inc, is set to establish its first outlet in Jinan, Shandong province, according to an agreement signed on Sept 25 between Walmart (China) Investment Co and Jinan High-tech Holding Group.
The Jinan Sam's Club store will be located in the Jinan High-tech Zone, with a planned above-ground construction area of approximately 23,000 square meters and an underground area of about 56,000 square meters. Construction is expected to begin by the end of December 2024 and the store is expected to open to the public by the end of 2026.
The launch of the Sam's Club store in Jinan High-tech Zone is an important step for Walmart (China) in its market strategy for Jinan, which will further help stimulate new consumption and create new consumer experiences, said Ren Guangfeng, vice-mayor of Jinan and deputy secretary of the Party working committee of Jinan Innovation Zone.
