The 2024 Yangtze River Delta Talent Development Forum and the Hongqiao Talent Innovation and Development Conference were hosted in Shanghai on Sept 20.
At the conference, representatives of cities in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region put forward eight initiatives, including developing a collaborative talent service mechanism, organizing brand activities for talent development, promoting cooperation among talent platforms and institutions, building a unified and open talent market, recruiting talent from overseas, supporting talent innovation and entrepreneurship, promoting the integrated development of industrial and educational resources, and serving the orderly flow of talent.
As a key area where multiple national strategies such as the YRD integration and Hongqiao International Opening-up Hub overlap, the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District is vigorously working to become a talent hub. A number of policies and platforms were released at the conference.
The Hongqiao CBD Administrative Committee has issued 22 measures related to the introduction of talent, innovation and entrepreneurship, becoming a livable and business-friendly environment, and more.
The Shanghai Public Security Bureau's Overseas Talent Direct Connection Platform (Hongqiao) was also launched to provide one-stop services for visas, residence permits, permanent residency, and support for work and daily life. The platform integrates all services provided by public security departments related to foreign nationals and overseas talent, directly addressing their needs and improving the service experience.
The Hongqiao International Talent Service Center, unveiled at the event, is an important, newly established platform for talent services within the business district. By primarily serving foreign nationals and international talent, the center aims to create a comprehensive chain of government services, offer one-stop professional services and develop a full process for entrepreneurship support.
