The tomb of Huang Sheng, a noblewoman from the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) in the northern suburb of Fujian’s Fuzhou, is regarded a treasure trove of ancient Chinese silk.
Astonishingly, 354 silk textiles have been uncovered there, making it the largest and best-preserved collection of clothing from the Southern Song.
The garments, in over 20 styles crafted from gauze, damask, satin and crepe, feature intricate 700-year-old decorative patterns.
