On Sept 2, the first day of the 2024 fall semester, the Chunhui campus of the Affiliated Junior Middle School of Jiangsu Taizhou High School welcomed its inaugural class of seventh-grade students. The school houses 13 classes with over 600 students and boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including specialized classrooms for calligraphy, dance, and psychological counseling.
"Expanding high-quality educational resources is essential not only to enhance people's sense of educational satisfaction and well-being but also to promote educational equity," said Wan Yongliang, director of the Taizhou education bureau.
Since 2021, Taizhou has invested over 11 billion yuan ($1.55 billion) in constructing and expanding 157 kindergartens and primary and secondary schools, creating 77,300 new school seats. The city has also implemented a group-based schooling model, enabling new schools to accelerate development, rejuvenating weaker schools, and vitalizing rural education.
Baoxu Primary School has joined the Taizhou Experimental School Education Group to ensure balanced and high-quality development. The school's principal, Zhang Sheng, highlighted the benefits of teacher exchanges and collaborative research within the group, fostering professional growth for educators.
Meanwhile, Haiguang Primary School focuses on holistic and personalized student development. This summer, the school assigned a cross-disciplinary project for students to engage with the poet Li Bai, integrating subjects like art, music, geography, history, and computer science, developing the students' comprehensive learning abilities.
