Beijing Daxing airport flying high as it nears its fifth anniversary

As Beijing Daxing International Airport approaches its fifth anniversary on Sept 25, the remarkable journey of this aviation hub since its inauguration in September 2019 is a testament to its outstanding achievements. This year alone, the airport has catered to over 35 million passenger trips, solidifying its status as a pivotal player in the aviation industry, the airport said on Friday.

In five years, the airport handled over 110 million passenger trips, becoming one of the major air hubs in and out the capital, Man Qunjie, an official from the Beijing Daxing International Airport Aerotropolis (Daxing) Management Committee, told a news conference on Thursday.

From its humble beginnings, Beijing Daxing International Airport has evolved into a bustling center of air travel, boasting an impressive peak day operation of 1,087 flights and facilitating about 180,000 passenger journeys in a single day. Such operational excellence underscores the airport's commitment to efficiency and customer satisfaction, according to the airport.

With 190 airlines operating routes to 180 destinations as of July, the airport offers travelers a wide array of options, ensuring extensive connectivity and convenience for passengers from around the globe. This expansive network of flight connections cements the airport's position as a vital gateway to and from China.

Moreover, Beijing Daxing International Airport has seamlessly integrated with the surrounding infrastructure, establishing links to a total of eight railways and freeways. This comprehensive transportation network not only enhances accessibility but also contributes to improved efficiency in travel, positioning the airport as a linchpin in the nation's development strategy.
