Ningbo's trio of young talents made a triumphant return to the city on Sept 17 after their stellar performance at the 47th WorldSkills Competition.

Zhou Feng and Kang Bangcheng ended China's gold medal drought by clinching top honors in construction metal works and cooking categories, respectively, while Weng Yan secured a commendable fourth place in heavy vehicle technology.

Reflecting on his victory, 20-year-old Zhou expressed his initial disbelief, stating, "The moment I was declared the champion, my mind went blank for a moment!" Holding his gleaming gold medal at the airport, Zhou's radiant smile belied the challenges he overcame to achieve success.

"This gold medal not only symbolizes six years of hard work but also showcases to society that honing skills can lead to extraordinary accomplishments," remarked Kang, emphasizing the value of dedication and perseverance in skill development.

Recalling the pressure he felt upon encountering the competition's intricate car models, Weng admitted, "I was quite nervous at first since these car models are commonplace among competitors from European and American nations, unlike for us. However, drawing from my training experience, I managed to compose myself and deliver a strong performance during the competition."
