Jinan ranks among top 100 global IC industry cities

The World Integrated Circuit Association (WICA) recently released the 2023 Global Integrated Circuit Industry Comprehensive Competitiveness Top 100 Cities White Paper. Jinan, capital of East China's Shandong province, ranked 81st.

Jinan boasts a thriving integrated circuit industry and has formed a complete industrial chain integrating design, manufacturing, packaging, and application. The city is now home to over 80 companies involved in the integrated circuit field.

Jinan is said to be the only region in Shandong with full industrial chain capabilities in integrated circuit design, semiconductor materials, manufacturing, and packaging and testing.

The city also boasts certain advantages that aid in the development of the integrated circuit industry. In the first half of this year, its high-tech manufacturing sector grew by 8.1 percent year-on-year, with the growth rate increasing by 5.9 percentage points from the first quarter. During this time, the output of integrated circuit wafers increased by 35.8 percent year-on-year.
