On Sept 6, the inaugural Yellow River Intangible Cultural Heritage Food Month launched in Hohhot, capital city of North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. This exciting event features over 100 intangible cultural heritage (ICH) food projects from the nine provinces and autonomous regions along the Yellow River.
Running from Sept 6 to Oct 7, the festival will showcase local ICH cuisine and over 100 ICH projects from the Yellow River region and Beijing. Attendees can enjoy a range of activities, including ICH food tastings, traditional crafts, cultural products, live performances, and educational workshops.
This cultural extravaganza highlights the skills of 200 ICH inheritors and features 400 local vendors alongside 100 ICH-specialized businesses. It aims to promote the creative transformation and innovative development of intangible cultural heritage, preserve traditional Chinese culture, and enhance the integration of cultural tourism.
The festival will have four main areas following the theme, "Savor Yellow River Cuisine & Preserve Northern Border Intangible Cultural Heritage". These areas include Yellow River Food Street, Yellow River Market Area, "A Date with the Grasslands" ICH Exhibition Hall, and the 12 League and Cities Agricultural and Animal Products Exhibition Center. Throughout this 32-day celebration, visitors can experience a rich variety of ICH food, cultural activities, and popular attractions.
