After Super Typhoon Yagi hit Hainan province on Friday afternoon and caused widespread damage, transportation in the province is gradually returning to normal on Sunday.
The Haikou Meilan International Airport is expected to resume operations at noon on Sunday, with all flights on that day operating in and out of just terminal one. The airport had ceased operations since 8 pm on Thursday. Sanya Phoenix International Airport and Qionghai Boao International Airport have gradually resumed operations starting at 10 am on Saturday.
Haikou's Xinhai Port, Xiuying Port, and South Railway Port will resume ferry transportation services across the Qiongzhou Strait starting at 1 pm on Sunday. Xinhai Port has been closed since Wednesday, while Xiuying Port and South Railway Port ceased operations on Thursday.
The eastern section of the Hainan high-speed railway loop will gradually resume operations from 11 am on Sunday. However, the western section of the loop, along with local city trains in Haikou and trains for passengers entering and leaving the island province, will remain suspended on Sunday.
