Quzhou in Zhejiang province announced on Sept 4 that Quzhou's Confucius ceremony has, for the first time, become a part of the China (Qufu) International Confucius Cultural Festival.
This year marks the 2,575th anniversary of Confucius' birth and the 20th anniversary of Quzhou's revival of its own Confucius ceremony. The city will kick off its annual Southern Confucianism Tourism Season on Sept 6.
Throughout September, during the tourism season, locals and visitors can engage in a variety of cultural activities, including Confucian cultural exchange exhibitions and the musical Southern Confucianism.
Special offers are available for specific groups. Tourists with the surnames Kong, Meng, Yan, or Zeng, minors under 18, and newlyweds taking wedding photos can enter the Confucius Temple for free. Additionally, visitors from Jining, Shandong, will enjoy free admission to 14 popular Quzhou scenic spots and discounts at 54 starred hotels and boutique accommodations.
Since 2021, Quzhou has explored the essence and contemporary value of Southern Confucianism, designating every September as "Southern Confucianism Cultural Season," featuring the annual Confucius ceremony and various popular cultural activities.
