In an effort to make the Chinese capital even more accessible to tourists, officials released a brochure entitled Welcome to Beijing: Essential Tips for New Arrivals on Friday.
The English language guide focuses on the “need-to-knows” for first-time international visitors to Beijing and presents information in an accessible and practical format, aiming to enhance the ease with which first-time visitors can navigate the capital.
The guide is presented in a "text + QR code" format, and follows the flow of "arriving at the airport, heading to the city, and exploring the city". It sequentially provides relevant information on six scenarios: Communication, payment, transportation, entertainment, tourism and shopping, and medical care. Basic information is provided in the guide, while detailed instructions can be accessed by scanning the QR code.
The guide is available in both printed and electronic versions. The printed version can be obtained at the visa centers of Chinese embassies and consulates or picked up for free at the Overseas Guest Payment Service Center after arriving at the airport. The electronic version can be viewed on the International Web Portal of Beijing, the official WeChat account of BeijingService, and online platforms, or by scanning the QR code below.
