Rox Motor, a Chinese startup focused on outdoor living vehicles, has made efforts to expand its overseas network by joining hands with global partners.
At the ongoing Chengdu auto show, which kicked off on Friday, Rox signed agreements with partners from Qatar, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, the Philippines and Egypt, initiating sales channels and customer service systems in five emerging markets.
To date, the automaker has entered markets in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia, establishing business partnerships in 28 countries. It plans to expand into Latin America and Southeast Asia in the future.
Backed by Weiqiao Pioneering, a Fortune 500 company, Rox was established three years ago in China with a global vision, offering models designed for family outdoor living.
Its first and only model, the Rox 01, is a range-extended SUV. It hit the market at the end of 2023 priced from 299,900 yuan ($42,270) to 359,900 yuan.
The all-terrain SUV is available with two battery pack options provided by CATL, which can achieve a maximum pure electric range of 306 kilometers and a total range of 1,362 km.
Over the past nine months, Rox received more than 10,000 orders for the model and delivered 4,000 units to customers worldwide.
Yan Feng, CEO of Rox, said overseas sales accounted for one-third of its total deliveries. The company plans to achieve parity between overseas and domestic sales, and is likely to see overseas sales to even surpass domestic sales.
In the future, Rox will introduce a new model annually, bringing more youthful and innovative products, Yan said.
Yan said that the Rox 01's customer satisfaction exceeds 95 percent. The model also has been designated as the VIP reception vehicle for China Southern Airlines and is the official vehicle for the United Arab Emirates' police.
At the Chengdu auto show, the automaker has debuted the Off-Road Master Edition and the Fishing Master Edition of the Rox 01, which features up to 12 storage compartments to hold fishing gear.
