The 19th China Changchun Film Festival kicked off on Aug 28 in Changchun, capital city of Northeast China's Jilin province, bringing together filmmakers from across the country.
This year's event, themed New Era, New Cradle, New Power, marks a significant moment for Chinese cinema.
The opening ceremony introduced 15 films shortlisted for the prestigious Golden Deer Award, including The Volunteers: To the War. Jury members made their collective debut, with Chairwoman Li Shaohong delivering a keynote address. Attendees also enjoyed promotional videos and various performances.
The festival, which runs from Aug 28 to Sept 1, will feature a range of activities, including film screenings, discussions, tributes to the "cradle of Chinese cinema", and industry integration events.
As the birthplace of New China's cinema, Changchun has hosted the festival for 32 years, continuing to honor its red heritage and echo the spirit of the times. The Changchun Film Festival remains a vital platform for celebrating Chinese filmmaking, fostering innovation, and facilitating cultural exchange with international filmmakers.
