The Kunpeng adhesive factory will become a major production base of the German multinational Henkel Group. This factory in Shandong's Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone is expected to begin trial production and product certification next year.
"This is one of Henkel's largest single-unit production bases globally, with an annual adhesive production capacity exceeding 10,000 metric tons. The products are mainly used in the automotive, electronics, and machinery maintenance industries, representing Henkel's most advanced adhesive technology worldwide," said Wang Xiawei, operations director of adhesive technologies at Henkel China.
Anna An, president of Henkel China, said: "Although we are a foreign-invested company, we are deeply rooted in China. The name 'Kunpeng' (a mythical creature) embodies the grand ambition of soaring high and swimming far and wide. This factory will not only serve the Chinese market but will also cater to the entire Asia-Pacific region in the future."
Henkel Loctite (China) Co Ltd was registered in the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone in September 1987, becoming the first Fortune Global 500 company introduced to Shandong province. Over the past 37 years, Henkel Loctite has undergone five rounds of capital infusion and expansion. The construction of the Kunpeng factory marks Henkel's fifth capital injection in Yantai.
"If we didn't actively compete for this project, not only would the new project not land here, but the scale of the existing factory might also shrink," said Xu Qi, director of the investment promotion bureau of the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone.
