To present its best face to the world, Harbin is undergoing a significant transformation in anticipation of hosting the 9th Asian Winter Games in 2025.
The city has crafted the Harbin Urban Quality Enhancement Action Plan (2024) to spearhead this initiative.
A significant component of this plan is the extensive upgrade of urban green spaces, which has already achieved over 80 percent completion.
The plan includes various landscaping projects to enhance 115 key urban locations. These upgrades involve planting spruces, introducing new street trees, installing tree grates, and placing flower boxes.
Elements inspired by the Asian Winter Games have already been constructed at Heping Square, covering an area of approximately 6,000 square meters.
Considering seasonal factors, several locations, including Heping Square and Changjiang Road, have been adorned with vibrant five-colored grass, adding a splash of color to the city.
Plans are in place to install winter ice and snow sculptures in other green spaces across the city.
