Construction on the fifth and sixth phases of the Wuxi Software Park in Xinwu district, Wuxi has reached the halfway mark, and the phases are expected to be fully completed and operational sometime in the second half of 2025. Once finished, Wuxi will be home to a technology park spanning over one million square meters.

The phases, which commenced construction in November 2022, cover a total area of 390,000 square meters and feature 13 office and auxiliary buildings. Zheng Jiangwei, chairman of Wuxi Software Industry Development Co Ltd, noted that the total investment in the two phases is nearly 3 billion yuan ($420.78 million), doubling the cost per square meter compared to the fourth phase.

The new phases are designed to cater to the needs of industries like software and AI. The high-rise office buildings are designed with floor heights of 4.6 to 5 meters and load capacities of 500 kg/square meter, with some areas reinforced to 1 metric ton. The park will feature 77 elevators, including 14 cargo elevators with a 2-ton capacity, specialized air conditioning for server rooms, and a dedicated power supply system, all tailored to create an intelligent manufacturing space.

Sustainability is a key focus, with the use of green building materials and energy-saving designs. The project optimizes building orientation and window-to-wall ratios, while also incorporating photovoltaic and low-energy equipment to reduce energy consumption. It is estimated to save 4.5 million kWh of electricity and 700,000 cubic meters of gas, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 5,000 tons.
