In recent years, Ordos city in the Inner Mongolia autonomous region has advanced its energy sector's green and low-carbon transformation. A burgeoning hydrogen energy industry cluster is now taking shape.

Ordos has abundant renewable energy resources such as wind and solar power, providing a solid foundation for developing the hydrogen energy industry.

Correspondingly, Ordos is one of the largest application sites in China for long-distance, heavy-duty fuel cell trucks and mining trucks.

Statistics show that Ordos has a vehicle population of 615,000, including approximately 330,000 heavy-duty coal and engineering trucks, with over 6,000 vehicles updated annually.

Ordos has unique advantages for promoting the development of the hydrogen energy industry, encompassing production, storage, transportation, refueling, and utilization.

Ejin Horoo Banner vividly displays the full spectrum of the hydrogen energy industry chain, which is divided into three key segments: hydrogen production, storage and transportation, and fuel cell and terminal applications.

Entering the Net-Zero Industrial Park in the Mengsu Economic Development Zone, one can witness workers from CSSC Peric Hydrogen Technologies Co's Ordos base manufacturing hydrogen electrolyzers.

Last year, Inner Mongolia's first 2,000 standard cubic meters per hour electrolyzer rolled off the production line. It is one of the highest-level hydrogen production core devices in China and overseas.

Assuming an annual operation of 3,000 hours, this electrolyzer can produce 540 metric tons of hydrogen, consume 30 million kWh of green electricity, and power a hydrogen heavy-duty truck for 3 million km.

At Inner Mongolia Shengyuan Hydrogen Energy Technology Co's hydrogen production and refueling station in Ejin Horoo Banner, a heavy-duty truck pulls in and completes hydrogen refueling under the meticulous operation of the staff.

The first phase of the company's hydrogen project has been completed and is operational. It produces hydrogen with a purity of 99.99 percent. It can produce 2000 cubic meters of hydrogen per hour and refuel 1,000 kg of hydrogen daily, meeting the hydrogen needs of 60 heavy-duty trucks.

The second phase is currently under construction. Once completed, the entire project will produce approximately 5,458 tons of hydrogen annually, sufficiently meeting the green hydrogen needs of hydrogen-powered vehicles in Ejin Horoo Banner.
