The Wuhan Hydrogen Energy Technology Industrial Park was unveiled and commenced construction in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Aug 16.
During the inauguration ceremony, five high-quality hydrogen energy projects with a total investment exceeding 3 billion yuan ($419.75 million) were secured.
The park aims to advance the construction of a core technological innovation system, focusing on two main industrial chains: fuel cells and hydrogen energy equipment. It plans to enhance its hydrogen energy testing platform service system, creating a comprehensive industrial chain development loop from industry incubation to development and application.
The park will be also looking to establish a fund group, attract and gather upstream, midstream, and downstream hydrogen energy enterprises, and build a comprehensive hydrogen energy industrial ecosystem.
This initiative marks a significant step forward in WEDZ's efforts to accelerate the construction of a national hydrogen energy industry demonstration base, further establishing Wuhan as a pivotal hydrogen energy hub in China.
Hydrogen energy is one of WEDZ's five emerging industries. In recent years, WEDZ has focused on developing the hydrogen energy industrial chain, attracting nearly 20 leading enterprises such as Dongfeng Motor Corporation, State Power Investment Corporation Hydrogen Energy Co, Wuhan WUT HyPower Technology Co, and Cummins Inc.
The zone has established four hydrogen refueling stations and deployed nearly 300 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, forming an initial industrial and innovation chain that spans from basic components to fuel cells, complete vehicles, and demonstration operations.
The planning for the Wuhan Hydrogen Energy Technology Industrial Park was also unveiled during the event. By 2030, the park aims to achieve a total investment scale of 10 billion yuan, attract 30 hydrogen energy enterprises, facilitate the listing of three hydrogen energy companies, build five new hydrogen refueling stations, deploy 3,000 hydrogen demonstration operation vehicles, and achieve a total revenue of 50 billion yuan.
