On Aug 16, the Bohe Fishing Port in Maoming welcomed the annual 8th South China Sea (Maoming Bohe) Fishing Festival.

At noon on Aug 16, the South China Sea off-season fishing ban ended. With the fishing decree issued, thousands of fishing boats set sail as fishermen embarked on a new journey at sea.

Every year at this time, Guangdong hosts the South China Sea Fishing Festival, praying for the safe and successful voyages of fishermen and abundant catches of fish and shrimp.

Bohe Fishing Port in Maoming is one of the top 10 fishing ports in the country, with 5,703 fishing vessels from Maoming anchoring there.

The 2024 fishing festival integrates a rich display of intangible cultural heritage performances, folk songs and dances, martial arts, and more. It also features art performances by the Guangzhou Song and Dance Troupe and a number of renowned singers, offering a spectacular show filled with the rich flavors of the fishing village and coastal charm for fishermen and visitors alike.
