Four counties and districts in Guangxi were recently designated as key counties for leisure agriculture, namely, Ziyuan county in Guilin, Rongshui Miao autonomous county in Liuzhou, Pingnan county in Guigang, and Yizhou district in Hechi.
Yizhou district is the hometown of Liu Sanjie, the Zhuang folk song fairy, as well as the largest primary silk-producing area in Guangxi and a major production base of high-quality silk cocoons in China. It boasts rich tourism offerings and strong ethnic customs. The district is home to four national 4A-level scenic spots, including the Liu Sanjie Hometown Scenic Area, Huixian Mountain, Huaiyuan ancient town, and Lalong Ecological Leisure Area.
Requirements for applying to become a key county for leisure agriculture in Guangxi include: hosting over 2 million tourists annually; offering a variety of travel options such as farmhouse inns, rural homestays, leisure sightseeing parks, leisure farms, leisure villages, health resorts, and educational bases; possessing well-known leisure agriculture and rural tourism spots within Guangxi; and developing high-quality rural leisure tourism routes, among other criteria.
