7 Wuxi towns make list of China's top 100

Seven towns in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, recently made the list of China's top 100 towns, which was released at the 2024 Township High-Quality Development Exchange Meeting held in Hunan province.

Here are some of the listed Wuxi towns.

With a history of over 1,600 years, Luoshe town (34th) in Huishan district, located along the Grand Canal, features both picturesque scenery and thriving industries.

Xinqiao town (46th) in Jiangyin highlights horse-related industries and is home to the reputed Feima Watertown. The watertown farms 47 rare kinds of horses from over 30 countries and regions and boasts the world's largest dressage show in its 9,000-square-meter performance hall.

Zhouzhuang town (49th) in Jiangyin, with a history of more than 6,000 years, has been a prominent cotton trading wharf in Jiangnan region since the Song Dynasty (960-1279). It has recently gained recognition in China as a chemical fiber and cotton spinning town.

Donggang town (76th) in Xishan district is rich in cultural relics and renowned for its vast stretches of golden silk imperial chrysanthemums, making for a beautiful sight during harvest season. In addition, the town is a hotspot for entrepreneurs with a sound industrial foundation and a culture of innovation.

Dingshu town (83rd) in Yixing specializes in zisha teaware, or purple clay teaware, with various industrial and cultural facilities centered around this craft. These developments have attracted more businesses and tourists to this charming town.
