The Jingju Theater Company of Beijing’s production Qi Baishi was performed again at the Chang’an Grand Theatre on Aug 13 and 14. This modern Peking Opera focused on the pivotal artistic transformation of the renowned artist Qi Baishi (1864-1957) in the 1920s, highlighting his determination to break from the old and create a new, ultimately establishing his iconic "red flowers and ink leaves" style, a milestone in Chinese ink painting innovation.
