The summit of the 12th Straits Youth Day was held in Fuzhou, Fujian province, on Thursday, attracting 1,100 young people from both sides, including many young people from Taiwan visiting the mainland for the first time.
During the event, young people from both sides shared their stories of seeking employment, starting businesses, and building families to promote mutual learning and exchange.
The summit invited representatives from various fields, including technology workers, athletes, university student leaders, and industry pioneers from both sides. The 2024 Paris Olympics weightlifting champions, Li Fabin and Li Wenwen, shared their stories of fighting to inspire young people from both sides to strive for excellence.
At the event, Fuzhou announced several measures to facilitate the development of young people from Taiwan, including providing them with free accommodation for one year.
Qiu Kaiming, deputy director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said that the mainland will share the opportunities for Chinese-style modernization with Taiwan compatriots to create better conditions for them.
It is hoped that young people from both sides will work together to promote peaceful development of cross-Strait relations, maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait, and contribute to the process of reunification of the motherland, he said.
