In the first half of the year, Ordos saw steady economic growth, making significant strides in high-quality development. The city's progress is marked by three major highlights.
Service sector growth:
Compared to the first quarter, the service sector in Ordos continues to surge, with the added value of the tertiary industry increasing by 1.1 percentage points and contributing an additional 0.4 percentage points to GDP growth. Notably, wholesale and retail, transportation and warehousing, finance, and real estate sectors all experienced growth rates exceeding 4 percent, collectively driving GDP growth by 1.4 percentage points.
New economic momentum:
Ordos is witnessing a remarkable accumulation of new economic drivers, particularly in the renewable energy sector. The added value of the new energy industry soared by 309.1 percent year-on-year, while the new energy equipment manufacturing industry saw a staggering increase of 349.6 percent.
Within this sector, wind power equipment manufacturing grew 5.6-fold. Renewable energy generation reached 7.21 billion kWh, with wind power accounting for 2.3 billion kWh of that number and photovoltaic power for 4.91 billion kWh, reflecting year-on-year increases of 15.2 percent and 112.2 percent, respectively.
The supply of emerging products remained stable, with solar cell production standing at 7.99 million kW, lithium-ion batteries at 1.90 million units, monocrystalline silicon at 29.4 million kg, and polycrystalline silicon at 8.91 million kg.
Unleashing development vitality:
Ordos is demonstrating robust development vitality with the commencement of 141 new projects, including 43 projects each with an investment exceeding 100 million yuan. Additionally, 230 new enterprises have been established, with 45 in the industrial sector and 44 in the service sector.
New consumption patterns are also appearing, with retail sales through internet-based wholesale and retail units above the designated size increasing by 50 percent year-on-year. Similarly, the retail sales of new energy vehicles grew 10 percent year-on-year.
