Shanghai recently implemented a series of measures to enhance the exhibition economy. These measures include financial support to exhibitions aligning with specific development directions, including internationally-renowned brand exhibitions and high-level projects.
Moreover, in order to optimize the exhibition business environment, the city is making it easier to organize and attend exhibitions. Security coordination mechanisms have been established to elevate public service levels, and in a bid to strengthen regional leadership, Pudong New Area in Shanghai is offering discounts on tourist attractions during high-quality consumer and entertainment exhibitions.
The measures further emphasize the deepening of international cooperation with organizations like UFI and IAEE to attract global exhibition enterprises to Shanghai. Pudong's exhibition sector has seen significant growth, with 84 exhibitions held in the first half of the year, attracting 52,000 exhibitors and 3.6 million professional visitors. Notably, international exhibitions in Pudong accounted for 87 percent of the total number and 91.5 percent of the total exhibition area, showcasing the area's increasing internationalization and branding efforts.
