The coal hydrogenation gasification co-production of aromatic hydrocarbons and methane technology, independently developed by ENN Group, has led to the trial operation of an integrated gasifier for coal hydrogenation gasification in Dalad Banner of Ordos.
This milestone marks a significant breakthrough in the world's first coal hydrogenation gasification technology, which offers a new solution for the clean and efficient utilization of coal resources in China, thereby contributing to the transformation and upgrading of the energy structure.
The technology is a novel coal pulverization, classification, and utilization technique that efficiently and cleanly converts coal resources into natural gas while producing high-value light aromatic hydrocarbons as by-products.
At its core, the technology involves the rapid hydrogenation pyrolysis reaction of coal powder and hydrogen gas under moderate to high-temperature and pressure conditions, yielding methane, light aromatic hydrocarbons, and clean semi-coke, enabling the cascaded utilization and full-value development of coal resources.
Over a span of 13 years, the research and development team at ENN Group independently designed the core technology and production facilities for coal hydrogenation gasification.
Through rigorous validation, they have managed to achieve innovative results with independent intellectual property rights. The methane, light aromatic hydrocarbons, and clean semi-coke produced by this technology find applications not only in the natural gas sector but also in the synthesis of plastics, pesticide manufacturing, and the rubber, paint, and electronics industries.
