China celebrated its 16th National Fitness Day on Thursday. Hainan's Danzhou city is celebrating with events from Wednesday to Sunday. The festivities kicked off with an opening ceremony on Thursday evening.
Attendees can partake in a wide range of activities, including square fitness dance, local singing performances, street dance showcases, taekwondo demonstrations, sports dance routines, freestyle basketball games, martial arts displays, freestyle roller skating exhibitions and freestyle cycling.
Additionally, individuals can undergo physical fitness assessments to gain insights into their health status, with professional instructors available to offer guidance on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Dong Xinju, a septuagenarian, remarked on Danzhou's improving sports atmosphere. The Galaxy Taichi Team, of which she is a member, now boasts 91 members. They practice every morning for a minimum of 1.5 hours. Dong gave props the local government for sponsoring the team leader's studies in the capital city of Haikou, enabling them to learn the latest Taichi sets.
Sixth-grader Rong Xuan said that her parents have prioritized her physical fitness since she was five years old, enrolling her in swimming and dancing classes. This early exposure has instilled in her a habit of exercising after school.
