On Aug 5, China Eastern Airlines began operating a new route with the C919 aircraft – round-trip flights between Xi'an and Beijing.
At 4:05 pm on the day, the inaugural flight, carrying 139 passengers, took off from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport, bound for Beijing Daxing International Airport, marking the official launch of the fifth regular commercial route using China Eastern Airlines' C919. The airline is the first in the world to make use of the C919, a domestically-produced large aircraft.
The flight, with the number MU2113, is set to depart daily at 4 pm from Xi'an Xianyang International Airport and is expected to arrive at Beijing Daxing International Airport at 5:40 pm.
The return flight from Beijing Daxing to Xi'an Xianyang is numbered MU2120 and will depart daily at 8 pm from Beijing Daxing International Airport and is expected to arrive at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport at 10:20 pm.
A spokesperson from China Eastern Airlines said that China's visa-free convenience policies are continuing to attract a large number of overseas tourists. Beijing and Xi'an are both historical and culturally-renowned cities, making them popular among overseas tourists visiting China.
The route will allow more domestic and foreign travelers to experience the exciting combination of "Chinese airlines + Chinese manufacturing + Chinese cultural tourism + Chinese brands".
