The inaugural Hongqiao Qianwan International High-end Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Innovation Industry Forum recently took place in the Minhang area of the Shanghai Hongqiao International Central Business District, which saw the unveiling of the NICE-Wego Joint Innovation Center.
The center, a collaboration between Wego Group's Intelligent Innovation Park and the Yangtze River Delta National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE), will link domestic and international medical device innovators, universities, and research institutes with the park's enterprises, fostering technological innovation and commercialization.
Wego Group's Intelligent Innovation Park, set to be completed in late 2024, is part of the Hongqiao Biomedical R&D Headquarters Functional Zone, which already hosts leading companies like Simcere. The park will focus on major surgery, early screening and diagnosis, health technology, and blood purification and metabolism.
Key speakers at the event discussed the advancement of core technologies and industry-finance interaction. Additionally, the Feifan Life Sciences (Hongqiao) International Science and Innovation Education Base was established at the forum to integrate R&D, education, and incubation, aiming to inject new vitality into life sciences by aligning with international standards.
The forum also featured project roadshows by young scientists, with feedback and guidance from scientists, investors, entrepreneurs, and managers. Selected projects will receive pre-investment incubation, enhancing the innovation ecosystem in local pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
