Sanya strives to develop scientific innovation hub for Hainan FTP

In recent years, Sanya has leveraged its natural environment and policy advantages to develop a science and innovation hub for Hainan Free Trade Port.

As the main base for nurturing new productive forces in Sanya, Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City (YZBSTC) is a key industrial park in Hainan FTP.

In line with the development goals of the Nanfan agriculture and deep-sea technology industries, the area has introduced 15 domestic graduate training units.

By the end of 2023, YZBSTC had gathered 32 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research platforms, including four national-level platforms.

As of the end of March 2024, the area was home to 11,181 enterprises, including 3,664 marine-related enterprises, 3,133 agricultural enterprises, and 3,031 digital economy enterprises.

The Nanfan seed industry is one of the three main industries in the development of Hainan FTP. In recent years, leading seed industry companies such as China Seed Group have set up operations in YZBSTC, forming a complete seed industrial chain.

Sanya is advancing construction on major projects around industries such as deep-sea equipment research and development, deep-sea new material development, deep-sea new energy research, and deep-sea mining, providing strong support for the development of the deep-sea industrial chain.

YZBSTC has become an incubation base for Hainan's deep-sea technology industry, attracting over a thousand high-tech enterprises. Leading deep-sea industry companies such as China State Shipbuilding and China Merchants Group have set up operations there.
