Sanya is gearing up to host the 12th National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities, which is just 100 days away, by improving its urban cultural and sports facilities.
The Sanya International Sports Industry Park, also named the Egret Stadium, is ready to welcome the games. This 86,000-square-meter venue, capable of accommodating 45,000 spectators, will host the opening and closing ceremonies as well as several competitions.
Nineteen venues including the Hainan Tropical Ocean University and Sanya Technician College have been revitalized, ensuring they serve both as sporting venues during the games and as hubs for community sports activities afterwards.
In July, the environmental improvements around the Sanya International Sports Industry Park were completed. This includes planting evergreen trees with flowering shrubs, creating a tropical botanical landscape.
Furthermore, fitness trails were enhanced and shaded rest areas added, enriching the site's appeal for both events and daily recreational use.
To alleviate urban congestion and provide convenient transportation for guests, Sanya initiated the Damao Tunnel and G98 Hainan Ring Expressway's Yazhou Bay Science and Technology City section renovation projects.
