Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, is known for its cool climate and is now entering the peak summer tourism season. In the summer tourism data recently released by China's online travel agency Ctrip, Guiyang made the list of the top 10 destinations for chartered car tours to beat the heat, ranking third.
According to Guiyang Bureau of Culture and Tourism, in recent years, Guiyang has been promoting its pleasant climate, focusing on its "six cool" features to offer a diverse array of travel products and accelerate the development of its "cool economy".
Every summer, Guiyang attracts nearly 100,000 visitors seeking respite from the heat, with 45 percent staying for over 30 days.
With its lucid waters and lush mountains, Guiyang's unique climate creates a cool and livable environment during the summer.
As China's first national forest city, Guiyang boasts an average summer temperature of 22.3 C and over 10,000 negative oxygen ions per cubic centimeter. The city is also home to over 40 scenic spots above national A-level and more than 7,300 tourism attractions.
To date, Guiyang has launched 12 key summer resorts and 43 district and county-level resorts. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of nature in Huaxi's Qingyan, Qiantao and Gaopo areas, experience ethnic and red culture in Kaiyang's Pingzhai village and Xiuwen's Damu village, and indulge in rural pleasures and outdoor activities in Qingzhen's You'er village and Kaiyang's Qingjiang village.
The recently launched "Shuangyou Lyuju" mini-program provides comprehensive services for tourists. The mini-program currently features over 200 stores and more than 5,000 beds, including livable homes, boutique homestays, resort hotels, and urban apartments, all of which undergo a rigorous selection process.
Urban resorts offer more convenience and better public services than rural ones. To meet the diverse needs of tourists, Guiyang has categorized urban resorts into three types: residential community, hotel, and fixed facility, continuously upgrading commercial areas and holding cultural and sports activities like roadside concerts and marathons within the city.
Moving forward, Guiyang will continue to enhance its summer tourism products and optimize public services to better cater to the diverse and personalized vacation needs of the public, showcasing the unique charm of "Cool Guiyang".
