United States carmaker Tesla will recall more than 1.68 million vehicles in China due to potential safety problems with front covers, the company stated it will fix the cars for users, the State Administration for Market Regulation said on Tuesday.
The recall is due to potential problems with the front spare box cover applied to some Tesla Model S, Model X, Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, it said.
The market regulator also said Tesla's Beijing and Shanghai branches would use remote upgrading technology to fix the problems, so in most cases car owners would not need to visit their service centers to get the upgrades.
