Maoming's Huazhou city is hosting various summer activities, which includes plenty of crayfish, attracting numerous tourists and unleashing the potential of the rural night economy.
During the peak summer season, crayfish are at their most succulent, and Huazhou's Jianjiang Street has a tradition of breeding the animals, with nearly 1,000 mu (67 hectares) of breeding area and an annual output value of 5.6 million yuan ($780,000).
Moreover, locals have turned the crayfish into an industry, forming an integrated agricultural, cultural, tourism, and commercial chain that combines breeding, circulation, sales, and catering services, attracting many tourists.
The local government continues to deepen the integration of agriculture, culture, and tourism, developing a series of innovative consumption scenarios. This year, it has organized various consumption experience season activities such as the Huajuhong blossom viewing event, rural basketball competition, and rural singer competition, which have been welcomed by the public.
Behind the popular summer crayfish culture lies an integrated industrial chain that spans from cultivation and breeding all the way to the dining table, and even extends further to encompass the rural night economy, bringing smiles to people's faces on summer nights and boosting rural vitalization.
