Three county-level areas in Ningbo, East China's Zhejiang province, made the 2024 list of China's top 100 counties, as revealed in a recent report.
Compiled by CCID Consulting, an organization affiliated with a think tank under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the report evaluated 1,879 county-level administrative regions across China.
To qualify for inclusion in the list, a region must demonstrate a gross domestic product (GDP) of at least 60 billion yuan ($8.4 billion) and a general public budget revenue of at least 2 billion yuan.
Cixi and Yuyao, two county-level cities in Ningbo, maintained their strong positions from the previous year, with Cixi ranking 7th and Yuyao 13th. Additionally, Ninghai county advanced to the 44th position this year.
In the first half of this year, Cixi's GDP hit 134.6 billion yuan, up by 6.7 percent year-on-year, while the figure for Yuyao stood at 78.12 billion yuan, a 6 percent annual growth.
Sixty-six of the top 100 counties are located in eastern China, 18 in central China, and the rest in the west.
Among the top-performing regions, Zhejiang stood out with a total of 15 counties or county-level cities making the list, placing it second only to Jiangsu province, which claimed a quarter of the spots in the top 100.
