At 2:00 pm on Aug 1, flight HX161 from Hong Kong landed at Sanya Phoenix International Airport. These are the first travelers benefiting from the new 144-hour visa-free policy to arrive in Hainan.
"We heard about the new visa-free policy and rushed here to enjoy the beautiful scenery, delicious food, and unique coastal views. The entry process was smooth and convenient, and the service has been very attentive," said a visitor surnamed Zhang from Vietnam.
The National Immigration Administration announced a 144-hour visa-free policy for foreign tourist groups entering Hainan province from Hong Kong or Macao starting July 30.
According to the notice, citizens holding ordinary passports from countries with diplomatic relations with China can enjoy visa-free travel to Hainan for up to 144 hours after visiting the Hong Kong or Macao special administrative regions and joining a tour group of two or more individuals organized by a legally registered travel agency in Hong Kong or Macao.
To provide high-efficiency and convenient customs clearance procedures for foreign travelers, the Haikou Exit-Entry Border Inspection General Station has improved its measures. This includes upgrading the pre-declaration information system, optimizing customs processes, and providing guiding service onsite.
"The introduction of the 144-hour visa-free policy has garnered significant attention from various sectors," said Zhao Jing, director of the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau of Hainan Province. "We believe this policy will boost Hainan's development as an international tourism consumption center and play a positive role in enhancing Hainan's international business environment," Zhao added.
